Hinsher, also known as the 'Hero Knight', is a major character who first appeared in Gilgamesh and later The Ember Knight. She is a Knight from the Central Continent and her title is "Crimson Hippo".
She wields a large hammer called the Hippo's Jaw, which was crafted by the legendary blacksmith, and Hinsher's beloved, Gnojes.
History[]
Hinsher originally lived 500 years prior to the start of The Ember Knight. She fought and killed "Blood Red Spider" (also known as the Demon Knight)- events which directly led to the introduction of Geas to the Knights order. As a result of her actions, she became known as the "Hero Knight".
On the return trip from the Demon Knight subjugation quest to Nijel, Hinsher became lost. Eventually, she found herself in Letun, where she came across Ram and Stella's cabin. Ram agreed to show her the way back to Nijel, and the two of them left Stella at the cabin so he could point Hinsher in the right direction. Unfortunately, while they were gone, a group of Malto magicians, along with a Knight named "Black Lynx" Payon, attacked the cabin. Hinsher and Ram saw a magical flash coming from the cabin, so they raced back. Payon was able to decapitate Ram quickly enough to disable him, so that he and the magicians could focus their attacks on Hinsher. Hinsher initially had the upper hand, but eventually she was hit by a magical attack that froze her in ice. By the time Ram had fully regenerated, Hinsher was frozen and Stella, who had awakened her Demon horns, had killed Payon. Hinsher would stay magically frozen for 500 years.[1]
Hinsher's Geas is that she will not harm anyone who does not talk back to her, though this does not mean she will not protect others.
Personality[]
Hinsher believes strongly in both honor and justice. In this sense, she is an ideal Knight.
Like her mentor, Hinsher worries about the future of Knights. She is often disappointed in how other Knights act, and tries to act as an example for them to follow.
Appearance[]
Hinsher has a large frame and is taller than average, even being a head above most men in the series. She has pale skin, black eyes, and blond hair which goes past her shoulders, though she typically keeps it wrapped around the front of her right shoulder.
Her clothes consist of a simple black leotard with a low cut v-neck, white boots which cut off just above her ankle, and a vibrant red shawl that wraps around her shoulders.
Abilities[]
The Penetrating Eye: Also known as "The Eye of Insight", this ability can perceive others' intentions and detect lies to some extent. Supposedly, on a good day, she can read someone else's mind. It is a Law that this ability can only be held by a single person at a time.
Hand-to-Hand Combat: Unlike many knights, Hinsher is highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat. She can fight on the same level as an armed knight using only her fists and developed the 'rebound strike' herself.
Rebound Strike: Sometimes referred to as the wall strike, it is a technique developed by Hinsher. Punching an opponent who has a solid object behind them, she can generate a powerful force which will then rebound off the "wall" striking her enemy from behind. She has been seen reflecting this off of a boulder, the ground itself, and even another human. Somehow, in the 500 years that Hinsher was frozen, Waron also managed to learn this technique.

Hippo's Jaw[]
The Masterpiece Hippo's Jaw was created for Hinsher by her lover, Gnojes. It appears to be a massive hammer, but is in fact an enormous sword, as the hammer head can generate mana blades to serve as a cross guard and sword blade. She refers to it as "the most beautiful and magnificent sword".
In addition to using Hippo's Jaw as a hammer or sword, Hinsher can use the mana blades to propel herself through the air.[2]

The Demon Knight[]
The Demon Knight, Blood Red Spider, was Hinsher's mentor. The Demon Knight realized that powerful Knights could, in the future, abuse their power without checks and balances. As such, he slaughtered the royal family and forced Hinsher to kill him, so that his example could be used to motivate changes to the Knight order.
Gnojes[]
The first Gnojes was Hinsher's lover 500 years ago. He created Hippo's Jaw for her.
